Brain and Spine Conditions We Evaluate
Explore conditions that may lead to neurosurgical evaluation. These topics reflect selected clinical interests and the official scope listed by UCHealth. They do not mean every clinician treats every condition or provides every procedure.
Comprehensive Neurosurgical Expertise. Your First Step Toward the Right Care.
Our neurosurgical team welcomes patients with the full spectrum of brain, spine, and neurological surgical conditions, including complex or uncommon diagnoses that may not appear in the list below.
Through our academic affiliations and collaboration with the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, we can help patients navigate their care—even when their condition requires specialized expertise in areas such as cerebrovascular or functional neurosurgery.
Whether your condition can be managed locally or requires evaluation by a specialized neurosurgical team at Anschutz, our goal is to help you find the right expertise and the right next step.
The conditions below represent common areas of our clinical practice, not a complete list of the neurosurgical concerns we welcome.

Spine Conditions
Evaluation considers symptoms, neurological findings, imaging, and your goals. A consultation does not automatically mean surgery.
Lumbar spinal stenosis
Narrowing in the lower spine that may affect the nerves traveling to the legs.
Cervical spinal stenosis
Narrowing in the neck that may affect nerve roots or the spinal cord.
Cervical myelopathy
Spinal cord dysfunction associated with compression in the neck.
Lumbar disc herniation
Disc material in the lower back that may irritate or compress a nerve.
Cervical disc herniation
Disc material in the neck that may affect an arm nerve or the spinal cord.
Degenerative spine conditions
Changes in discs, joints, and supporting tissues that may contribute to symptoms.
Spondylolisthesis
A vertebra shifting relative to an adjacent vertebra; relevance depends on clinical findings.
Spinal deformity
Changes in spinal alignment, including selected scoliosis conditions.

Brain and Cranial Conditions
The appropriate clinician and care setting depend on the diagnosis and urgency.
